Job summary

Akkodis Canada seeks an Assistant Project Manager to support a major Elevated Guideway Transit Project in the Greater Toronto Area. You will coordinate field operations, manage schedules and project controls, track costs, and ensure work is delivered safely and in line with milestones.

You will work with Project Management, Construction, Engineering and Field Operations teams, lead meetings, prepare progress reports, and support junior team members.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field.
• Experience delivering construction or infrastructure projects with strong coordination skills.
• Experience managing RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation.
• Ability to coordinate across field operations, engineering, consultants and leadership teams.
• Proven track record on major transportation infrastructure projects.

With decades of experience executing major transit expansions, bridges, highways, utilities, and transportation infrastructure programs, the organization is recognized for tackling technically challenging projects that shape communities and improve connectivity across Canada. They are currently seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the delivery of a major Elevated Guideway Transit Project in the Greater Toronto Area.

About the Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-profile transit infrastructure project and support the delivery of one of the most critical and schedule-sensitive sections of the program.

Working closely with Project Management, Construction, Engineering, and Field Operations teams, the successful candidate will play a key role in driving project execution, coordinating subcontractors, managing schedules and project controls, supporting cost performance, and ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project milestones.

This role is ideally suited for an Assistant Project Manager, Project Engineer, Senior Project Coordinator, or Construction Manager with experience delivering bridge, superstructure, elevated structure, transit, rail, or heavy civil infrastructure projects.

The successful candidate will bring hands-on construction management experience and the ability to lead project teams while coordinating multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced project environment.

What You’ll Do

• Support the execution and delivery of a major elevated guideway construction package
• Coordinate field operations, construction activities, subcontractors, and project stakeholders
• Monitor project schedules, milestones, productivity, and progress against project objectives
• Assist with project planning, construction sequencing, and execution strategies
• Track project costs, forecasts, budgets, and commercial performance
• Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation
• Coordinate procurement activities, material deliveries, and subcontractor scopes
• Support schedule recovery plans and mitigation strategies for critical project activities
• Lead meetings with project partners, consultants, subcontractors, and field teams
• Prepare progress reports and communicate project status to leadership
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with quality and project standards
• Support the management and development of junior team members and project coordinators
• Collaborate with engineering, construction, project controls, and commercial teams to ensure successful project delivery

What You Bring

Must-Have Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline
• At least 5+ years of experience delivering construction or infrastructure projects
• Experience supporting the construction of: Bridges, Superstructures, Elevated guideways, Viaducts, or other similar Structural concrete works
• Major transportation infrastructure projects
• Demonstrated construction execution and field coordination experience
• Experience managing subcontractors, work packages, and construction activities
• Knowledge of project scheduling, planning, and cost control principles
• Experience managing RFIs, change orders, and construction documentation
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to coordinate across field operations, engineering, consultants, and project leadership teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Transit, rail, LRT, subway, or transportation infrastructure project experience
• Experience working on Design-Build or P3 infrastructure projects
• Proficiency with Primavera P6, MS Project, Procore, or similar project management tools
• Previous experience leading project coordinators, engineers, or site teams
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), EIT, PMP, or related designation
