Job description

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, the Assistant Project Manager will support an active project.

Primary Scope of Role:

  • Participate in both internal and external meetings with the client and team members.
  • Responsible for keeping detailed records and following up on action items.
  • Ensure project is constructed according to design, budget, and schedule.
  • Monitor project performance, schedule, costs, equipment, manpower, materials, equipment maintenance, safety, and quality control.
  • Interface with project team, subcontractors, and related third parties.
  • Monitor and inspect project site to maintain a safe work environment and provide leadership to ensure policies, procedures, and standards are followed.
  • Coordinate, provide guidance, and review the implementation of the work plans with other team members.
  • Oversee project closeout.
  • Maintain and communicate project information through several forums including project website, phone, and email.
  • Interface with traffic and environmental teams to communicate traffic impacts and environmental consultation.

Position Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education is required, preferably in Civil or Construction Engineering.
  • An EIT or CET designation is preferred.
  • Previous experience with estimating and quantity take-offs using digital software.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite including Microsoft Project.
  • Minimum 3 years of project management experience is desired.
  • Experience on road or excavation construction projects is desired.
  • Experience in coordinating construction projects.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and build strong working relationships.
  • Ability to be flexible and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective time management and prioritization skills.
