Description

ECC is seeking an Assistant Project Manager - Environmental to join our Environmental group. The role involves working on project sites throughout the Mid-Atlantic region of the U.S., with a preference for candidates near Abingdon, MD, though remote candidates in the Mid-Atlantic are encouraged to apply. The position requires travel as needed.

The Assistant Project Manager will assist in managing project activities to ensure goals are achieved within time and budget constraints. Candidates should have experience with performance-based project management, including scope, schedule, budget, risk mitigation, and risk/reward analysis. Experience with CERCLA and RCRA is required, supporting environmental remediation and performance-based programs across the continental U.S.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in planning and coordinating project activities to meet objectives within time and budget
  • Review proposals and plans to determine feasibility, staffing, and resource allocation
  • Establish work plans, staffing, and recruitment for project phases
  • Coordinate with project staff and subcontractors to outline work and responsibilities
  • Manage activities to ensure schedule and budget adherence
  • Review progress reports and adjust plans as necessary
  • Prepare reports for management and clients
  • Provide technical advice and resolve issues
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies
  • Manage supervisory responsibilities per organizational policies
  • Develop and maintain project schedules and reports, including baseline, weekly, monthly, and as-built schedules
  • Coordinate with project team on physical percent complete, schedule updates, and long lead materials
  • Prepare client invoices and schedule projections, including what-if analyses and critical path reports
  • Coordinate with finance for cost tracking, forecasts, and invoice review
  • Perform other assigned tasks as needed
Requirements
  • Excellent report writing, communication, and presentation skills
  • Proficiency with cost tracking and accounting systems (EZ TRAC, Cost Point)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Effective negotiation skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, email, Windows, Primavera, and Microsoft Project
  • At least three years of scheduling and project planning experience in environmental projects
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental laws (CERCLA, RCRA)
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, geology, chemistry, or science
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER training and refresher courses
  • Experience with contaminant characterization, cleanup technologies, and cost systems
  • Professional Engineer or Environmental Professional certification
  • Experience in remedial action project management or hazardous waste industry
Compensation & Benefits

The targeted salary range is $63,242 to $101,661, with actual offers dependent on qualifications. Benefits include health insurance, life and disability coverage, paid time off, 401k, education assistance, employee programs, and charitable matching.
