The Department of Chemistry
The Department of Chemistry at Université Laval is distinguished by the excellence of its teaching, the quality of its research, and the richness of its collaborations. Job Description
The Department of Chemistry at Université Laval is inviting applications for a tenure track position at the rank of assistant professor in the field of analytical chemistry.
We are seeking candidates whose research aligns, among other areas, with one or more of the following fields
- Bioanalytical chemistry
- Separation sciences (chromatography, electrophoresis, etc.)
- Advanced instrumentation development (mass spectrometry, spectroscopy, NMR, etc.)
- Electrochemistry
- Bioelectronic
- Environmental analysis, toxicology, or isotope analysis
- Chemometrics
- Applications of analytical chemistry to health, materials, environment or energy
Selection criterias
The successful candidate must
- hold a doctoral degree and have research experience in analytical chemistry
- have recently published research articles
- be able to provide quality teaching of chemistry at the undergraduate and graduate levels in a French-speaking context
- be able to develop a quality research program in analytical chemistry
- be able to interact effectively with existing groups and research centers in order to strengthen the scientific excellence and coherence of ongoing research activities.
All applications proposing a research theme in the field of analytical chemistry will be considered.
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level in French and establishing a high-level research program in their field of specialization.

Additional information
Since Université Laval is a French-language institution, the successful candidate will be required to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in chemistry in French within a maximum of three years from the start date. New professors whose first language is not French receive institutional support to help them attain the level of language proficiency required for their duties.
