Position: Assistant Housekeeping Manager

The Role at a Glance:This position plays a key role within our hotels. The Assistant Housekeeping Manager will help lead our housekeeping team and reports into the Housekeeping Manager. Our housekeeping team provides exceptional service and maintains the highest cleanliness standards throughout our guest rooms and public spaces. We provide exceptional guest stays in our meticulously restored guest rooms.

Your Day To Day Duties:

  • Maintain quality service standards in guestrooms by inspecting vacant, checkout, and occupied rooms.
  • Perform random or targeted inspections (e.g., VIP rooms, guest complaints, or new staff).
  • Focus on quality control trends, not just individual rooms.
  • Audit supervisors’ inspections and verifies SOP compliance.
  • Handle training-related inspections or special projects (e.g., new checklists, deep cleaning audits).
  • Ensure cleanliness in service areas, guest corridors, and around guest lifts.
  • Report maintenance deficiencies promptly and ensure they are addressed.
  • Enforce high grooming and overall uniform standards for the housekeeping team.
  • Safeguard all floor key cards, maintain security standards, and report any suspicious activity.
  • Respond to guest complaints, compliments, and requests in line with hotel standards.
  • Foster positive associate morale and encourage commitment to guest satisfaction.
  • Conduct regular team briefings and communicate assignments.
  • Inspect VIP rooms before guest arrival and ensure Out-of-Order (OO) and Out-of-Service (OS) rooms are checked daily.
  • Follow all health and safety protocols, including proper chemical handling and equipment use.
  • Manage housekeeping inventory, daily assignments, and staffing needs to ensure efficient operations.
  • Maintain storage areas for cleanliness and safety.
  • Collaborate with the Front Desk to resolve room status discrepancies.
  • Submit maintenance requisitions to Engineering and follow up on completed work.
  • Supervise lost and found processes, delivering items to Security promptly.
  • Oversee public areas ensuring cleanliness standards.
  • Monitor room attendant carts and manage supply stock levels.
  • Support departmental policies and maintain open communication within the housekeeping team.
  • Meet with guests to address complaints and respond to requests in the absence of the Executive Housekeeper or Director of Housekeeping.
  • Spot-check the issuance of guest amenities, room supplies, and linens on the floors.
  • Ensure that health, safety, and fire procedures and regulations are followed.
  • Liaise with other departments to ensure effective communication and coordination of activities.
  • Monitor the maintenance of indoor plants, fresh flowers, and silk arrangements on guest floors.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by management.

Availability Requirement:

  • The Assistant Housekeeping Manager is required to be available for work Monday through Sunday, with the flexibility to work in accordance with rotating rosters covering morning and afternoon shifts, including weekends and holidays.

You have:

  • Previous leadership experience.
  • Proven ability to provide quality audits and training.
  • Passion about hospitality and cleanliness.
  • A post-secondary diploma or degree (nice to have).
  • Strong communication, both verbal and written.
  • Flexibility and willingness to meet the demands of a 24-hour operation.

Special Requirements:

  • Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
  • Ability to stand/walk during entire shift.
