Job summary

British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) is recruiting temporary, part-time Teaching Assistants for the Interior Design Department to support delivery of Flexible Learning courses across three term blocks (Sept–Dec, Jan–Mar, Apr–Jun) and a summer term (Jul–Aug). Responsibilities include class attendance, grading, and collaborating with instructors.

Positions require a relevant interior design credential, with strong organization and communication skills; experience in residential design

Qualifications

  • Relevant diploma or degree in Interior Design.
  • Minimum three years of related current experience in residential design (kitchen & Bath).
  • NKBA membership eligibility and AKBA certification are assets.
  • Hands-on experience with Chief Architect is an asset.
  • Hands-on AutoCAD experience is an asset.
  • Photoshop, InDesign and SketchUp experience are assets.
  • Excellent organization, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work within, and develop, a collegial environment.
  • Previous teaching, mentoring or informal training experience is an asset.

Position Summary

BCIT’s Interior Design Department is recruiting for temporary, part-time Teaching Assistants. BCIT requires individuals to fill temporary, part-time Teaching Assistant positions for delivery of Flexible Learning courses on a term-by-term basis in our Interior Design, Flexible Learning Programs. We invite individuals to view the Interior Design web pages to view program and course information. https://www.bcit.ca/programs/interior-design/ BCIT Flexible Learning runs three terms in twelve week blocks: September to December, January to March, and April to June, as well as a summer term from July to August.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Minimum three years of related current experience, with practical knowledge and experience in the residential ( kitchen & Bath) design field.
  • NKBA membership eligibility and Associate Kitchen and Bath Designer ( AKBA ) Certification an asset.
  • Hands on experience with Chief Architect would be an asset.
  • Hands-on AutoCad experience would be an asset.
  • Hands-on experience with Photoshop, Indesign and Sketchup would be an asset
  • Excellent organization, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work within, and develop, a collegial environment
  • Previous teaching, mentoring or informal training experience would be an asset..

Please Note: Teaching assistance are paid 3 hours per week per course. Additional marking time will be required outside of class

Salary Range

Salary Range Salary Range: $64.69 - $129.39 per contact hour, inclusive of vacation and holiday pay.

Additional Salary Information

Salary prorated based on percentage and term of appointment. Salary based on education, experience and placement criteria as outlined in the Collective Agreement.
