Job summary

BCIT’s School of Construction and the Environment seeks a full-time, temporary Faculty, Piping to instruct apprentices and supervise shop and lab activities. The position may lead to longer-term employment and requires a strong teaching background and journeyperson plumbing credentials.

Applicants should have years of experience in the Plumbing trade, solid English communication, and teamwork. The role includes curriculum updates and collaboration with industry to deliver high-quality training.

Qualifications

  • BC Trades Certificate of Qualification/Red Seal in Plumber and Gasfitter Class B.
  • Five years’ current work experience as a journeyperson in Plumbing.
  • Proven ability to teach and supervise apprentices.
  • Strong command of the English language (written and oral).
  • Experience working with apprentices in a supervisory role.

Responsibilities

  • Classroom instruction to apprentice, entry-level or Industry Services students.
  • Shop and laboratory instruction and supervision.
  • Administrative responsibilities including assignments, examination marking, and student evaluation.
  • Curriculum maintenance and program enhancement.
  • Administrative processes to ensure resources for training.
  • Other duties related to instruction of trades and vocational programs.
  • Input into development of modifications to workshop and instructional areas.

Position Summary

BCIT’s School of Construction and the Environment is seeking afull-time, temporary (1.0 FTE ) Faculty, Piping. This position could lead to longer term employment. Duties & Responsibilities
  • Classroom instruction to apprentice, entry-level or Industry Services students.
  • Shop and laboratory instruction and supervision.

  • Curriculum maintenance and program enhancement.
  • Administrative processes required to ensure appropriate resources are in place to deliver training.
  • Other duties directly related to the instruction of trades and vocational programs.
  • Input into development of modifications to workshop and instructional areas.
Qualifications
  • BC Trades Certificate of Qualification/Red Seal endorsement in the following:
    • Plumber
    • Gasfitter “Class B”
  • Additional qualifications enhancing your application but not required:
    • Gasfitter “class A”
    • Steamfitter/Pipefitter
    • Sprinkler-fitter
  • Five years’ current work experience as a journeyperson in the Plumbing trade.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and a strong desire to teach.
  • Effective command of the English language – both written and oral.
  • Experience working with apprentices in a supervisory role.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and develop a collegial environment.

Salary Range

Salary Range Salary Range: $82,891 - $122,857 per annum.
