Job summary

Hyatt Hotels Corporation is seeking an Assistant Housekeeping Manager for Spirit Ridge in Osoyoos, BC. The role reports to the Executive Housekeeper and leads a team to deliver guest room and public area cleanliness to Hyatt standards.

The ideal candidate brings 2+ years in hotel housekeeping, strong leadership, and excellent guest service capabilities. The position requires flexibility, weekend work, and eligibility to work in Canada.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years progressive experience in a hotel housekeeping department.
• Post secondary schooling in Hospitality is an asset.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and Internet systems.
• Experience training new colleagues in housekeeping.
• Self-starter with leadership ability and positive team fostering.
• Professional, organized with attention to detail.
• Strong interpersonal skills and guest service focus.
• Flexible to work evenings and weekends.
• Eligible to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

• Assist Executive Housekeeper in directing housekeeping activities and maintain guest room cleanliness to standard.
• Coordinate a team of attendants, supervisors, house persons, public spaces staff, and laundry attendants.
• Be a hands-on leader supporting laundry and housekeeping staff to meet guest standards.
• Inspect guest rooms and public spaces for cleanliness and safety compliance.
• Provide resources and coaching to staff addressing housekeeping issues.
• Assist in resolving guest complaints and ensuring guest needs are met.
• Support Front Office in handling emergencies during shifts.
• Train onboarding, scheduling, and labour management under direction of Executive Housekeeper.
• Maintain professionalism and guest service quality.
• Liaise with maintenance for upkeep of property and equipment.

What You Will Do

Reporting to our Executive Housekeeper & Housekeeping Manager, the duties are as follows:

• Assists Executive Housekeeper in directing the activities of the housekeeping department and furnishing exemplary daily cleaning service to guest rooms and all other areas of the hotel.
• Manage and coordinate a team of room attendants, supervisors, house person's, public spaces attendants, pool attendants, laundry attendants and night cleaners.
• Be a hands on/visible leader to support laundry & housekeeping staff in their duties to ensure all common areas and rooms meet our resort guest standards.
• Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms and public spaces ensuring cleanliness standards as well as safety guidelines are met.
• Act as a resource for all team members in the hotel when addressing any housekeeping cleanliness issues in the hotel.
• Assist in resolving guest complaints and ensuring the guests’ needs are exceeded.
• Assist Front Office to oversee any emergency situations that may take place during the shift.
• Assist in training, onboarding, performance reviews, scheduling, and labour management and maintaining supply inventory at the direction of the Executive Housekeeper.
• Maintain a high level of professionalism, providing exceptional guest service.
• Display a positive attitude, maintain enthusiasm, and celebrate success within a lively department environment.
• Trains, supervises, motivates and coaches supervisors and attendants, in addition to maintaining daily operations manual and expectations with consistency and fairness
• Audit the work of housekeeping staff and provide regular feedback and coaching in performance.
• Liaise with maintenance team members on a regular basis to ensure upkeep of the property is maintained as well as housekeeping and laundry equipment.
• From time to time, some cleaning of rooms may be required.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 year progressive experience in a hotel housekeeping department required.
• Post secondary schooling in Hospitality is a definite asset
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, as well as Internet systems
• Previous experience training new colleagues in a housekeeping department.
• Must be a self-starter with demonstrated leadership ability fostering a positive team environment
• Professional, well organized, with excellent attention to detail.
• Strong Interpersonal skills required.
• A polished approach to guest service and colleague interactions
• Must be flexible to work as business levels dictate, including evenings and weekends.
• Ability to stand and walk for the shift.
• Must be eligible to work in Canada.
