Job summary

COMPASS GROUP CANADA is seeking an Assistant General Manager to oversee all aspects of a retail café operation, including budgeting, financial management, and the successful delivery of branded concepts, catering, and event services. You will manage client relationships, develop staff, and coordinate food and beverage services to meet high standards.

The role requires post-secondary education and 5+ years in foodservice or related management, with strong budgeting, catering and leadership

• Experience in budgeting, financial management and weekly analysis.
• Strong catering experience, including large events.
• Excellent client relations and guest service skills.
• Experience with branded concepts or hospitality industry.

Job description

The salary range for this position is $75,000 to $85,000. Final compensation will be determined based on relevant skills, experience, qualifications, and internal equity. In addition to base salary, eligible employees may be entitled to other elements of total compensation, which may include group benefits, and/or employee incentive programs, where applicable to the role. We are committed to offering competitive compensation and comply with all applicable pay transparency legislation. The Assistant General Manager is responsible for all aspects of the operation including: budgeting, financial management and weekly analysis, implementation and ongoing success of the retail café, branded concepts, catering and event services.

• Post-secondary education with at least 5 years of foodservice or related management experience in an equivalent, banquet, hotel, conferencing, or branded retail food service environment.
• Strong experience dealing with labour relations issues.
• Proven financial management skills, including ability to control product and labour costs on a weekly basis.
• Strong catering experience, including demonstrated experience hosting large events.
• Experience working with branded concepts or the hospitality industry
• Strong management and organizational skills, capable of motivating, leading and developing associates.
• Flexibility in schedule to meet changing business and client service needs.
• Highly detail-oriented, with strong collaboration and teamwork abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Exceptional client relations and guest service skills.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• AFST (Advanced Food Safety Training)
