As we continue our growth trajectory, we are seeking a motivated Assistant Financial Controller to support the financial health of our operations. This is a critical role for a detail-oriented and organized professional with construction industry experience who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist in managing all accounting operations including billing, A/R, A/P, GL, cost accounting, and revenue recognition
- Oversee and ensure timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close
- Support financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes
- Analyze and report on job costs, work-in-progress (WIP), and margin trends
- Assist with internal and external audits
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and construction-specific financial requirements
- Collaborate closely with project managers and field teams on financial matters
- Supervise and mentor a team of accountants, AP/AR specialists, and payroll staff
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in the construction sector
- Familiarity with construction accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks desktop or similar)
- Advanced MS Excel skills and experience with financial reporting tools
- Strong understanding of GAAP and WIP reporting
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in construction, landscaping, or related industries
- Knowledge of LMN, Smartsheet, DEXT, or similar project management/AP automation tools
- Background in managing intercompany transactions
- Proficiency in Spanish is an asset
