Job summary

A retail and inventory-driven business is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to support financial operations. The role involves managing accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining internal controls. Candidates should have a Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance, with over 5 years of experience in a related field. Strong knowledge of GAAP and advanced Excel skills are required. Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in fashion, retail, or consumer goods.
• Asset-based lending experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Support month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and financial statement preparation.
• Assist in preparing and analyzing financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Collaborate to ensure accurate inventory valuation and COGS reporting.
• Monitor and strengthen internal controls.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Prepare schedules for external audits and tax filings.
• Identify opportunities to streamline processes.
