Our client is looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Assistant Controller to join their dynamic team in the financial sector. This role is critical in supporting the organization's financial operations, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, maintaining compliance, and strengthening internal controls. The Assistant Controller will assist in managing month-end and year-end closings, overseeing accounting procedures, and providing key financial insights to drive business decisions. Additionally, this position will play an integral role in budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling to support strategic planning.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Assist in the preparation of financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with IFRS.
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.
• Prepare and analyze financial and operational reports to provide actionable insights.
• Conduct variance analysis on budget vs. actual performance and provide recommendations.
• Lead financial review meetings with operations teams to align financial performance with business goals.
• Serve as a strategic business partner by delivering clear financial data to support informed decision-making.
• Oversee general ledger activities, including reconciliations, journal entries, and adjustments.
• Assist with internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation.
• Prepare ad-hoc reports and analysis as needed.
• Other duties as required to support financial objectives.

What You Bring to the Table:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred).
• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP/IFRS and financial reporting principles.
• Familiarity with Canadian tax compliance and provisioning is an asset.
• Experience in financial analysis, reporting, and strategic decision-making support.
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Excel and financial modeling.
• A proactive and results-driven mindset with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to drive tasks to completion.
