Job description

The Assistant Controller will be responsible for preparing and reporting financial performance results to meet internal and external financial reporting requirements, field inquiries, and prepare periodic presentations. The role oversees the financial processing, reconciling, and reporting of several US subsidiaries.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Prepare and review month-end financial processing for Mastronardi Produce and subsidiaries, including account reconciliation, supporting schedules, adjusting entries, variance and ratio analysis, and financial statement review.
2. Prepare monthly consolidated financial statements, including multiple currency reporting.
3. Develop the management reporting package on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, including financial statements, executive summaries, and board presentations.
4. Create short- and long-term trend reports, analyzing working capital, capital spending, and profitability, and communicate insights effectively to highlight current trends and potential future impacts.
5. Play a key role in the annual budgeting process, including pre-budget analysis and research.
6. Update operational and departmental spending forecasts regularly.
7. Participate in annual external audits, assist with tax preparation, and handle periodic regulatory requests.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1. Strong analytical skills, both quantitative and qualitative, including root cause analysis and concise reporting of results.
2. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
3. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with comfort in interacting with executive management.
4. Experience with financial modeling, including scenario, sensitivity, and ratio analysis.
5. Previous experience at an assistant controller level or relevant equivalent preferred.
6. Experience with Microsoft Navision is preferred.
7. Experience with consolidation reporting software is desirable.
