The Assistant Controller is responsible for functions including accounting, costing, analysis, budgeting, and financial reporting of the company. They direct accounting practices and reports, analyze and interpret financial data, and serve as a direct supervisor to non-exempt accounting staff.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain all general ledger and accounting practices, including inventories and fixed assets.
- Manage the monthly close process, including account reconciliation, journal entries, and financial statement preparation.
- Oversee the company's accounting, costing, analysis, and financial reporting.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial reports and monitor financial records and accounts.
- Assist in audit preparation by preparing support schedules.
- Ensure accounting records are prepared, maintained, and reported in accordance with GAAP and that all ledgers reconcile.
- Conduct financial analysis to interpret trends, variances from budgets and standards, and provide advice accordingly.
- Manage fixed asset records and depreciation accounts.
- Establish methods for proper capitalization and expensing by class.
- Approve departmental schedules, procedures, systems, and methods to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Prepare reports required by regulatory agencies.
- Perform supervisory tasks and establish effective work relationships within the department and with external partners.
- Maintain professional competence and complete reporting to governmental agencies accurately and on time.
- Administer accounting policies correctly.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Seven years of progressive accounting work experience.
- Experience in accounting/finance.
