Job summary

TYM CANADA is seeking an Assembly Technician to perform structured assembly tasks in a production environment. The role emphasizes safety, quality, and timely output, with adherence to Lean Six Sigma principles and standard work.

You will follow documented procedures, operate power tools and lifting devices, and collaborate with a team to meet daily production targets while maintaining a focus on process improvements and waste elimination.

Qualifications

• Experience in production settings; mechanical assembly preferred.
• Regular and reliable attendance is required.
• Work well with others as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Maintain effective departmental communication to assure a positive work environment.
• Follow documented procedures to perform safe and defect-free assembly and adjustment of parts and components.
• Use industrial power tools for assembly and lifting devices to move heavy components.
• Operate tractors, forklift and other equipment as needed.
• Implement process improvement, cost reduction and quality improvement processes in conjunction with the TYM Quality Management System.
• Maintain departmental tooling and equipment inventories and monitor.
• Adhere to quality procedure/work instructions and actively participate in the quality improvement process.
• Maintain a positive commitment to the safety of self and others.
• Act as a positive role model and support change actively participating in the implementation of the Lean Six Sigma tools providing guidance and/or training to less experienced coworkers.
• Meet daily production targets maintaining production flow, recording jobs completed and reporting issues preventing compliance.
• Monitor and check In-Process Checklist, Action List, 5S and leverage Lean Manufacturing concepts to support continuous improvement and waste elimination.

Position Summary:

Reporting to Operation Manager, the Assembler is responsible for performing assembly operations using various tools to meet quality requirements and customer demands. Assembly operations may include lifting, bolting, torquing, testing, and other tasks. Lead by example in areas such as safety, ethical standards, attendance, intensity, sense of urgency, team philosophy, initiative, quality assurance, standard work, 5S+, product knowledge, positive attitude, interpersonal communication skills, and professional presence.
