Job summary

Boyd in Grand Rapids, Manitoba, is looking for an inspector responsible for verifying product specifications and ensuring proper setup and operation of machines. The candidate should possess a high school diploma, and manufacturing experience is preferred. Physical demands include the ability to lift 25-50 lbs and perform constant upper body movement. Responsibilities

  • Inspect products to verify conformance to customer specifications.
  • Complete Progress report – identify the job and the starting time.
  • Review the Work Order for special instructions.
  • Assure the set-up is correct for the job.
  • Assure the station layout, tags and labels are appropriate for the job.
  • Complete Sign-Off checklist and have it signed by the appropriate person.
  • Inspect parts – assure patents and margins are correct with no blotches.
  • Perform hand manipulation when required – peeling waste off the part.
  • Rework, repair, and replace damaged parts or assemblies.
  • Set and verify parts clearances.
  • Verify conformance of parts using measuring instruments such as punch box or templates.
  • Cut trim parts for assembly.
  • Examine completed workpieces for defects such as chipped edges and marred surfaces.
  • Set up, operate, or tend machines to slit or punch material.
  • Other duties as assigned.
