Job summary

Coeur Mining’s Rainy River operation is hiring an Assay Lab Trainee for the onsite laboratory. You will assist with timely, accurate analytical services at the mine, with on‑the‑job training and no prior assay lab experience required.

Local Rainy River District applicants are prioritized; note that camp accommodations are not provided for this role. The position reports to the Assay Laboratory Supervisor and offers exposure to QA/QC and routine lab workflows.

Qualifications

• Experience in sample preparation or mineral processing is an asset.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) is an asset.
• Familiarity with SAP & LIMS is desirable.
• Team environment to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Weighing, drying and inventory of samples.
• Data entry and batch setup using LIMS.
• Crushing and pulverizing of routine mill and geological samples.
• QA/QC checks including PSA.
• Maintenance and checks of equipment (crusher and pulverizer).
• Logbook entries for maintenance and housekeeping.

Rainy River

Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River mine is an open pit and underground, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.

The Rainy River mine, located adjacent to the Ontario/Minnesota border is 65 kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer.

Assay Lab Supervisor

Position Overview

We are currently seeking a dedicated hard-working individual to join our team as a Assay Lab Trainee. Working at the onsite laboratory and reporting to the Assay Laboratory Supervisor, the Assay Lab Trainee’s primary responsibility is to provide timely and accurate analytical services to the Rainy River Gold Mine Operations. While Assay Lab and mineral processing experience is not required for this position, it is considered to be a valuable asset. This is an entry level position, the successful candidate will receive on-the-job training to acquire the necessary skills and knowledge required for the position.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for the weighing, drying and inventory of samples.
• Accurate data entry and set up of batch runs using LIMS.
• Safely and efficiently perform crushing and pulverizing of routine mill and geological samples.
• Ensure routine QA/QC checks, including Particle Size Analysis (PSA), are completed.
• Responsible for equipment (crusher and pulverizer) maintenance and checks.
• Keep a logbook for all routine equipment maintenance and daily, weekly and monthly housekeeping schedules.
• Collaborate with crew members, lead hands and supervisor to ensure tasks are completed safely, timely and efficiently.
• Execute procedures and systems to achieve results within given timeframes according to the Laboratory Service Agreement.
• Provide support to the team to meet OHSE site standards - ensuring all lab work areas are safe.

Qualifications

• Previous experience sample preparation or mineral processing is an asset.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) is an asset.
• Familiarity with SAP & LIMS is desirable.
• Work in a team environment to meet deadlines
• Positive attitude, commitment to safety and desire to learn.
• Good initiative and judgement .

The anticipated salary for this position will be between $58,000 to 61,000.
