Job summary

Canadian Hearing Services (CHS) seeks a LINC Instructor to deliver language instruction for newcomers who are Deaf, based at CHS Peel. The role focuses on functional English, ASL-based instruction, and portfolio-based assessments to support progression toward certificates.

The successful candidate will teach in-person in a multilevel classroom and incorporate life-skills training to ease transition to life in Canada, using MS Teams/Zoom as needed for online sessions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in education or equivalent.
  • 2–3 years’ related work experience including developing and adapting lesson plans.
  • Ability to adapt teaching to multiple learning styles and levels.
  • Proficiency with MS Teams and Zoom for online instruction.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) aligned with portfolio-based assessments leading to learner progression and certificates.
  • Teach functional English (reading/writing) to adult Deaf newcomers using a bilingual approach with ASL as the language of instruction.
  • Conduct in-person instruction in a multi-level, multicultural classroom and incorporate life-skills training for transition to life in Canada.
