Job Description

ECS is seeking an ARPA-H User Experience (UX) Researcher to work in our Remote office. Please Note: This position is contingent upon contract award.

Are you a passionate User Experience (UX) expert ready to support the leading edge of scientific and healthcare advancements in the Federal Government today?

ECS is seeking talented and driven professionals to support the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H). In this role, you will serve as a scientific and technical advisor to ARPA-H—enabling the agency to manage and oversee advanced R&D efforts; help shape future R&D concepts, programs, and solutions; and integrate and advance our nation’s healthcare ecosystem processes, policies, and enabling technologies. As a UX Researcher, you will provide support and thought leadership to R&D performer teams, Government Program Managers, and stakeholders across the health innovation ecosystem. This role supports the Office of Information Technology and Data Innovation (ITDI).

What You Will Do
  • Conduct in-depth user experience research using qualitative (e.g., user interviews, usability testing) and quantitative (e.g., surveys, analytics) methodologies to gather actionable insights to inform the development and execution of user feedback integration that align with ARPA-H organizational goals, web goals, and project timelines.
  • Analyze, interpret, and visualize user behavior data from various sources, and synthesize findings into actionable recommendations to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Support branding and brand strategy initiatives by ensuring UX design aligns with overall ARPA-H brand identity and user needs.
  • Facilitate collaboration between cross-functional teams, ARPA-H leadership, and stakeholders to foster innovation and ensure UX research findings are effectively implemented into designs.
Stay Current With Advancements
  • Actively track and analyze new research and technologies in this field.
  • Identify and propose emerging methodologies and technologies that could enhance the program's progress.
  • Participate in technical discussions and presentations, contributing your expertise to the program's overall knowledge base.
Collaborate Effectively Within a Diverse Team
  • Build strong relationships with computational scientists, engineers, and other scientific advisors involved in the program.
  • Communicate complex concepts clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Actively participate in brainstorming sessions and problem-solving exercises to drive the program forward.

Salary Range: $70,000 - $160,000

Required Skills
  • Master's in computer science, or related field.
  • 10 years minimum design experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research, analyze data, and write technical reports.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong work ethic and a passion for healthcare and scientific discovery.
  • U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency is required per contract.
Desired Skills
  • Three years or more experience within a Federal ARPA organization.
  • Two years or more experience in Federal Healthcare and/or Scientific Consulting.
  • Experience supporting complex healthcare and research and development programs.
