Job Description

ECS is seeking a Biomedical Scientist/Engineer with expertise in biomedical, genetic, space, and/or pharmaceutical sciences, with applications in regenerative medicine, drug development, and space biology, to serve as a Scientific Engineering Technical Advisor (SETA) supporting an ARPA-H Program Manager in a Remote setting.

Are you a passionate engineer with at least 4 years of industry experience in biotech or biopharmaceutical sectors, regulatory affairs experience, and expertise in biomedical, genetic, space, or pharmaceutical sciences? Are you eager to support ARPA-H in advancing innovative health research and development projects to address societal health challenges?

In this role, you will collaborate with the ARPA-H Program Manager to develop and manage R&D programs aligned with ARPA-H’s mission. Detailed requirements are below.

These SETA Duties Include But Are Not Limited To:

  • Assist and advise the Program Manager to develop and advance new and existing programs.
  • Evaluate the current R&D landscape to identify research gaps and critical needs aligned with ARPA-H’s mission.
  • Monitor and track the progress of performers against established metrics.
  • Digest complex scientific information and prepare briefings for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Apply logical and critical thinking to review scientific and technical data.
  • Support current ARPA-H efforts independently and within a team environment.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as collecting, analyzing, and writing internal reports and briefings.
  • Travel within CONUS (~10-20%) as needed to support the Program Manager and programs.

Salary Range: $145,000-$185,000

Required Skills:

  • PhD in tissue engineering, biomedical engineering, regenerative therapeutics, genetic engineering, gene editing, biologics manufacturing, microgravity research, low Earth orbit research, animal model development, toxicology, or pharmacology.
  • At least four (4) years of industry experience in biotech or biopharmaceutical companies, with regulatory affairs experience.
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel, including creating slides and files rapidly during meetings.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain a federal Public Trust clearance.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with basic and applied research.
  • Support to executives managing large R&D budgets is preferred.
