Role Overview:
As part of Carrier’s drive for continuous improvement, we are looking for a dynamic individual to serve as the Area Application Design Manager for the Commercial HVAC Automated Logic Field business in Canada. The responsibility of this role will be to successfully execute our engineering standards vision for building automation systems (BAS). The Area Application Design Manager will work closely with the North America Engineering Manager to ensure consistent improvement and forward-thinking methods of engineering and design execution.

The role reports directly to the General Manager ALC Canada and is located in Mississauga, Ontario.

Role Purpose:
The Area Application Design Manager is the functional leader of the Area hardware and software designers for client project execution. The primary responsibility is implementing engineering initiatives and ensuring consistent engineering deliverables relevant to the scopes of client work. This position will also support the Area Operation and Sales teams in operational excellence.

Role Responsibilities:

• Comprehend, analyze, and interpret construction plans and specification documents.
• Motivate and negotiate effectively with key employees and client groups.
• Plan, organize, and direct engineering teams to ensure accurate BAS engineering packages are deployed.
• Coordinate and manage all BAS engineering work, ensuring tasks meet budget and communicate expectations effectively.
• Assist in the implementation and enhancement of engineering tools.
• Support Sales organization in meetings and presentations.
• Establish and maintain vendor relationships for products that enhance our engineered offering.
• Develop Training and Mentoring plans and assist in training of new and current Software and Hardware Engineers.
• Participate in peer reviews and project meetings as required.
• Conduct effective interviews with engineering candidates.
• Assist operations in revenue and manpower forecasts.
• Professionally represent Automated Logic in meetings.
• Ensure all organizational safety and ethics standards are met.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Science discipline.
• 5+ years experience in HVAC project engineering delivery in building automation.
• 4+ years experience in the Controls and Building Automation field.
• A valid driver’s license is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience writing and interpreting specifications and design engineering.
• P.Eng. license or capability and interest to be licensed is highly desirable.
• Experience in healthcare, pharmaceutical, data centre, K-12 and higher education, or high-rise commercial building markets.
