Job summary

Softchoice is seeking an Architect, Professional Services (GCP) to design and lead cloud strategies for clients across Canada. You will work with presales and delivery teams to craft comprehensive cloud solutions that meet business goals and security standards.

In this role, you will mentor engineers, guide implementation projects, and contribute to the growth of Softchoice's Google Cloud practice. A strong background in IaC, scripting, and DevOps is essential.

Qualifications

• 8–10 years of work experience leveraging Google Cloud solutions and services.
• In-depth knowledge of cloud services, microservices (Kubernetes) and enterprise integration (GCP).
• Design, implement and manage cloud infrastructure and services.
• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in a relevant field or equivalent industry experience.
• Advanced proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Terraform or Deployment Manager.
• Advanced proficiency in scripting/programming languages (Python, JavaScript, Bash, Java).
• Knowledge of IT principles in networking, security, hardware or software.
• Strong DevOps culture, methodologies and tooling; 5+ years using Ansible, Git, Jenkins, Kubernetes, Prometheus and Docker.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with sales and clients to design comprehensive Google Cloud solutions aligned to business objectives.
• Provide technical leadership during design and implementation, ensuring on-time, in-scope, and within-budget delivery.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the Google Cloud practice with new solutions and continuous learning.
• Create and update project documentation and communicate progress to stakeholders.
• Lead and participate in implementation projects with DevOps engineers and project management.

The impact you will have:

As an Architect you will leverage your Google Cloud expertise and work with our presales teams to meet with customers and create comprehensive cloud strategies that align with the organization’s business objectives. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to lead implementation Projects as part of a team that includes DevOps Engineers and Project Management. What you'll do:

• Collaborate with sales teams and clients to understand business requirements and design comprehensive technology solutions.
• Provide technical expertise and support during the sales process, including presentations, demonstrations, and proposal development.
• Assume technical leader role during design and implementation of technology solutions, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
• Provide overviews of complex solutions, architectures, integrations and project updates to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ensure cloud solutions adhere to security standards and compliance best practices
• Communicating proactively with project managers, project teams, and customers.
• Creating and updating project documentation as required by project leads.
• Mentoring junior engineers
• Engaging in internal initiatives to build the Google Cloud practice by developing new solutions, learning new skills, and collaborating with the team.

What you'll bring to the table:

• 8 - 10 years of work experience leveraging Google Cloud solutions and services
• Proven track record of successful project contributions in Tech Consulting or Software Development
• In-depth knowledge of cloud services, microservices (Kubernetes) and enterprise integration, specifically related to GCP
• Design, implement and manage cloud infrastructure and services
• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in a relevant field or equivalent industry experience
• Advanced Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC):
• Expertise in at least one of Terraform or Deployment Manager.
• Advanced Proficiency in Scripting or Programming Languages:
• Expertise in at least one scripting or programming language such as Python, JavaScript, Bash, or Java.
• In-depth knowledge of IT principles in at least one of: Networking, Security, Hardware or Software
• Expert level understanding of DevOps Culture, Methodologies and Tooling:
• At least 5 years of experience using and managing tools such as Ansible, Git, Jenkins, Kubernetes, Prometheus and Docker.

Compensation:

A reasonable estimate of the current base pay range for this position in Canada is $120,800 to $151,000 annually + 14% as target incentives.

Actual salary will be based on a variety of factors, including location, experience, skill set, education, and related certification. The range for this position in other geographic locations may differ.
