Job summary

The Brand NEW Dartmouth Mitsubishi, part of Shift Auto Group, is hiring an Automotive Apprentice Technician to join an opening team. You will support the Service department with routine maintenance, basic repairs, inspections, and help skilled technicians while you learn on the job.

Ideal candidates are currently enrolled in or pursuing an Automotive Service Technician Apprenticeship, with a passion for automotive technology, strong attention to detail, and a collaborative attitude.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in, or working toward, an Automotive Service Technician Apprenticeship.
  • Passion for automotive technology and a desire to build a long-term career in the trade.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and proactive approach.
  • Good attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to follow instructions, procedures, and manufacturer specifications.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to work safely in a fast-paced shop environment.
  • Previous automotive experience or education is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Performing routine maintenance and basic repairs under supervision, including oil changes, tire rotations, fluid services, and brake inspections.
  • Assisting senior technicians with diagnostics, troubleshooting, and complex repairs.
  • Inspecting vehicles and identifying potential maintenance or repair concerns.
  • Using approved automotive tools, diagnostic equipment, and OEM systems.
  • Reading and following technical manuals, service bulletins, repair procedures, and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Maintaining accurate and detailed documentation of all services and repairs performed.
  • Communicating vehicle concerns, repair needs, and recommendations to Service Advisors.
  • Participating in manufacturer and dealership training to continuously develop technical skills.
  • Following all dealership quality control, safety, and environmental procedures.
  • Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Collaborating with Service Advisors, Parts Advisors, and fellow Technicians.
  • Supporting a positive, professional, and team-oriented workplace.
  • Embracing Shift Auto Group’s commitment to innovation, continuous learning, and a customer-obsessed mindset.

What You'll Do

As an Apprentice Technician , you'll support our Service team by performing routine maintenance, minor repairs, inspections, and assisting senior technicians with diagnostics and more complex repairs.

What We're Looking For

Currently enrolled in, or working toward, an Automotive Service Technician Apprenticeship

Passion for automotive technology and a desire to build a long-term career in the trade

Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn

Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and proactive approach

Good attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship

Ability to follow instructions, procedures, and manufacturer specifications

Strong communication and teamwork skills

Valid driver's license

Ability to work safely in a fast-paced shop environment

Previous automotive experience or education is considered an asset

Competitive hourly salary range of $18–$28 per hour , based on experience, apprenticeship level, and qualifications.
