Job summary

Zaber-Technologies in Vancouver is seeking a self-motivated Applications Engineer to help customers select optimal automation solutions and assist across all touchpoints, including quotes and implementation support. You’ll build relationships with new and existing clients and travel to trade shows in NA and Europe.

You will contribute to technical content, assist in design reviews, and advocate for customers' interests while expanding knowledge in photonics, optics, and industrial automation.

Qualifications

• Technical degree, ideally in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Ability to explain concepts in written and spoken English clearly; other languages an asset.
• Previous experience in a customer-facing role, ideally with a technical support or sales focus, an asset.
• Industry knowledge in photonics and optics, microscopy, industrial automation, or life sciences an asset.

Responsibilities

Job description

Zaber is looking for a self-motivated problem solver, with an interest in automation, to help customers choose the best solutions that meet their applications requirements. You’ll assist across all touch-points, including developing leads, quoting, aiding implementation, and supporting post-sale. By developing relationships with new and existing customers, you’ll explore a wide breadth of topics including mechanical design, troubleshooting, electromechanical systems, and programming, while also developing industry-specific knowledge.

By joining a high-performing, self-managed team of leaders, you’ll have the flexibility to operate in a way that works for you. Your team members will be there to support you in developing your motion control and customer service expertise.

As a core part of Zaber’s operation, you’ll have an opportunity to coordinate across teams. You will help create technical content, assist with traveling to trade-shows and conventions, and help develop customized designs. Within the company you will leverage your experience to act as a customer advocate, participating in design reviews, suggesting new products, and helping to develop and test new features and software.

• The starting wage for the role is $35 - $45, depending on experience.
