Application Support Engineer

We are in search of highly motivated, self-starters who currently work in high-pressure trading environments providing application support. When required, interact face to face or directly with our users. This candidate must be able to perform technical troubleshooting of electronic trading, trade capture platforms, position risk, and other platforms to prioritize issues, manage business expectations, and be a global team player within our FX/Commodities business. The successful candidate will have a continuous service improvement mindset and be willing to learn fast.

Accountabilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide day-to-day application support to trading systems.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for regional and global business users and other technology groups to ensure issues are addressed and communicated in a timely manner.
  • Provide functional and/or technical troubleshooting of production issues to restore service.
  • Identify root causes and track issues to their resolution.
  • Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and business teams to plan system rollouts, application updates, and post-release checks.
  • Monitor system performance, investigate nonfunctional problems, and identify solutions.
  • Work with tech teams to develop solutions utilizing enterprise monitoring/logging, aiming for “self-healing” systems requiring minimal maintenance.
  • Provide rotational after-hours and on-call support for critical issues impacting applications.
  • Offer expert technical knowledge of applications management, system components, interfaces, data flows, and business rules.
  • Report on application availability, including start-of-day checks, intraday monitoring, end-of-day reports, and incident tracking.
  • Conduct independent analysis to resolve strategic issues.
  • Participate in disaster recovery, business continuity, and audit responses.
  • Promote new processes, systems, and operational capabilities, aligning with project requirements.
  • Monitor system performance proactively and recommend operational improvements.
  • Develop or assist in developing knowledge assets for platform support.
  • Adhere to ITIL best practices for incident, problem, and change management.
  • Log and record requests, incidents, problems, and changes.
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Experience:

  • Experience in capital markets or similar high-pressure environments supporting trading or operational workflow applications.
  • Technical and/or business functional knowledge of relevant systems and dependencies.
  • Knowledge of enterprise monitoring, scheduling, deployment, or service management tools.
  • Understanding of ITIL service operations methodologies.
  • Experience in log analysis and troubleshooting production issues.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team, handling multiple issues simultaneously.
  • Understanding of IT operational processes for effective system delivery.
  • Support and operations knowledge gained through training and experience.

Skills:

  • LINUX and Windows operations, SQL, Excel, JIRA, Confluence, ServiceNow, automation and monitoring tools.
  • Business knowledge of Capital Markets - FX/Commodities.

Salary: $60,000 - $111,700

Pay Type: Salaried
