AML QC Lead Investigator

Conducts investigations to identify, assess, decide, and report on activity indicating exposure to financial crimes. Ensures threats and investigations are evaluated, documented, managed, and escalated following standard procedures. Provides expertise and oversight of criminal risk, utilizing a disciplined, intelligence-based approach aligned with risk frameworks to ensure compliance and support analysis and insights generation.

  • Develops solutions and recommends actions based on understanding of business strategy and stakeholder needs.
  • Advises and guides the business on solution implementation.
  • Determines business priorities and sequence for strategy execution.
  • Performs independent analysis to resolve strategic issues.
  • Supports strategic initiatives with stakeholders.
  • Builds relationships with law enforcement and financial institutions for investigations.
  • Ensures stakeholder alignment.
  • Integrates information from multiple sources for efficient processes and reporting.
  • May perform risk-based assessments of incidents to determine actions.
  • Prepares reports and filings as per guidelines.
  • Resolves complex issues, communicating risk requirements.
  • Acts as escalation point for issues.
  • Assists in coordinating tasks and may support leadership activities.
  • Monitors and analyzes data from detection systems and reports.
  • Supports evidence collection for incident reports, litigation, and process improvements.
  • Documents actions and maintains case files.
  • Maintains understanding of financial crime management processes.
  • Generates reports, dashboards, and analyzes data for insights.
  • Performs routine service tasks within SLAs.
  • Provides notifications and instructions to stakeholders about incidents.
  • Primarily focused on business/group within BMO, with possible enterprise-wide scope.
  • Uses judgment to diagnose and solve problems within rules.
  • Works independently on complex tasks, including unique situations.
Qualifications
  • 4-6 years of relevant experience with a related degree or equivalent.
  • Investigative or compliance experience required.
  • Knowledge of banking products and processes is a plus.
  • Technical proficiency through education or experience.

Salary

$54,500.00 - $101,500.00
