Job summary

McDougall Energy in Sault Ste. Marie, ON is seeking an Analytics Engineer to join our Business Analytics & Reporting team. You will build end-to-end analytics solutions from data integration to dashboarding, helping drive data-informed decisions across the organization.

You will work with ERP systems, data models, SQL, Tableau, and data quality practices while collaborating with analysts and stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable data structures and centralized reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Information Systems or Business.
• Five (5) to ten (10) years’ proven analytics experience.
• Experience with Tableau, advanced SQL, data modelling, DBT and cloud data platforms.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with high data volume.
• Experience with a large ERP system is an asset.
• Ability to work regularly at Sault Ste Marie Head Office.

Responsibilities

• Creating dimensional models, fact/dimension tables and data marts.
• Writing and optimizing SQL views.
• Establishing reusable datasets that can feed Tableau and other BI tools.
• Creating consistent definitions for metrics and business logic.
• Data quality testing and validation.
• Creating documentation and data lineage.
• Working with Business Analysts and stakeholders to translate requirements into data structures.
• Preparing the organization for future front-end/visualization technologies.
• Key contributor in establishing a centralized reporting framework.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:

McDougall Energy is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Analytics Engineer to join our Business Analytics & Reporting team. Reporting to the Manager, Business Analytics and Reporting, this role is responsible for building and supporting end-to-end analytics solutions, from data integration and modeling to dashboard development and reporting, helping drive consistent, data-informed decisions across the organization.

ABOUT YOU:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Information Systems or Business
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance would be considered an asset
• Five (5) to ten (10) years’ proven experience working within analytics
• Experience working with Tableau, advanced SQL, data modelling, DBT and cloud data platforms
• Strong proficiency working with Microsoft Office; specifically in Excel
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; both verbal and written
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment
• Demonstrated ability to manage in a fast-paced environment with ability to manage a high volume of data; with strong attention to detail
• Excellent time management and organization skills; ability to effectively prioritize and committed to deadlines
• Experience working with a large ERP system is an asset
• Ability to regularly work within our Sault Ste Marie, ON Head Office
