BCI is seeking an Analyst, Governance for its Legal Affairs team in Victoria. We are looking for an Analyst, Governance, to join our Legal Affairs team. This role operates within a sophisticated investment and legal environment, requiring precision, sound judgment and a disciplined approach to complex governance matters. THE OPPORTUNITYReporting to Senior Governance Counsel and Corporate Secretary, t he Analyst, Governance , provi des strategic input to enhance BCI's governance framewor k, proactively identifies opportunities for improvement , and recommends governance initiatives that align with organizational objectives . This role is responsible for supporting and advising on governance work, overseeing and administering BCI 's governance document framework, and reviewing/drafting organizational governance documents . The Analyst collaborate s with internal stakeholders to facilitate governance document development , promote s a culture of compliance within the organization , and ensures that all governance documents are clear, accessible, and effectively managed throughout their lifecycle. The role will also contribute to organizational information governance processes and help drive their implementation.
WHO YOU WILL WORK WITHThe Legal Affairs Department provides comprehensive legal, compliance, and governance support across the organization. The department works to provide tailored risk-based advice, ensuring compliance with regulations and upholding high ethical standards. The team gives proactive, practical, and solution-oriented guidance to help their business partners make informed decisions, fostering innovation, and driving success. By focusing on strategic objectives , the Legal Affairs Department supports BCI's ambitions and maintains its reputation as trusted advisors who can navigate the complex legal and regulatory landscape.
WHAT YOU BRINGBachelor’s degree in business administration , public administration, law or related field , or a paralegal certificate or diploma from an accredited institution
At least 2 years experience in policy development and drafting
Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skill s
Excellent work ethic, applying tact and diplomacy to all aspects of the role
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, meticulous attention to detail, superb accuracy, and organizational ability (without losing sight of the big picture)
Strong capability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Proven ability to manage a high volume of priority tasks under tight deadlines, demonstrating initiative and effective collaboration within a team
Ability to use document management and governance software and tools, such as NetDocuments, SharePoint Online, and Diligent
S trong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships across the organization and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders
Experience with records management requirements
Experience in the financial industry
As Analyst, Governance, you will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing BCI’s governance document framework, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. You will coordinate document reviews, facilitate stakeholder engagement, and support compliance and records management processes to uphold the integrity of BCI’s governance standards.
Governance Document ManagementMaintains, updates, and administers BCI's governance document framework and supporting materials, ensuring they are aligned with industry best practices and regulatory requirements
Coordinates the review of BCI governance documents, ensuring timely updates and compliance with internal policies and external regulations
Collaborates with subject matter experts to review and draft governance documents, ensuring they are consistent, clear, concise, and effective in supporting the organization's governance objectives
Facilitates consultations with internal stakeholders during governance document development or review processes, fostering a collaborative approach to governance
Ensures effective communication and training of governance document framework requirements across the organization to embed a culture of compliance and awareness
Ensures accurate version control and accessibility of all governance documents, maintaining a centralized repository for easy access and reference
Implements processes for the secure storage, archiving, and controlled destruction of obsolete governance documents, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
Assists with organizational information governance and records management processes as required , contributing to the overall integrity and security of organizational data
Provides backup for corporate secretarial duties as needed for team coverage, ensuring continuity and support for governance activities
Work from our downtown Victoria office.
SALARY RANGEBCI offers a competitive total rewards package which includes a performance-based incentive plan, comprehensive health & dental benefits, a defined benefit pension plan and paid time off.
The annualized base salary range for this Victoria-based role is CAD $ 7 7 ,000 to $ 93 ,000 .
The base salary offered to the successful candidate will consider a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill set, level of experience applicable to the role they are being offered and consideration to internal equity.
We pay our people competitively in the markets in which we compete for talent and with consideration to internal equity and job structure. We aim for actual pay to be around the median of the market for target or expected levels of performance, and around the upper quartile of the market for excellent performance.
Actual salaries may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors , including, but not limited to, experience and expertise .
