The Municipality of North Cowichan seeks an Assistant Chief, Fire Inspector to lead fire inspections and ensure safety compliance. Reporting directly to the Deputy Fire Chief, Fire Inspections, this position provides support with the strategic direction, leadership, and management of North Cowichan's Fire Services. The Assistant Chief, Inspector is a key operational role within the Fire Department, responsible for conducting fire inspections, investigations, building inspections and ensuring compliance with fire safety regulations. This position actively performs fire prevention duties, assesses risks, works directly with emergency response teams to enhance public safety and assists in fire safety education. Performs other tasks as required.
Hours of work may vary to accommodate operational requirements such as meetings, training schedules, and paid on-call firefighter availability.
Required Skills, Qualifications, and Abilities:
The ideal candidate for this position will maintain a successful police information check, including a vulnerable sector check. A competitive salary and comprehensive benefit package is offered. This position is excluded from union membership.
