Loblaw Companies Limited is seeking a Finance co-op student to support Sourcing during the Winter 2027 Work Term. You will generate reports, validate data, and analyze performance for 2027 sourcing initiatives in a hybrid Canada-wide setting.

This role includes preparing period-end journals and accruals, assisting with AR billing, creating and updating SOPs, and collaborating to improve processes. You will work with various finance teams and business partners.

Qualifications

  • Current enrollment in a relevant post-secondary program, focused on Accounting, Finance or related disciplines.
  • Strong time management, organizational and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency with Excel, BI tools and SAAS applications.

Responsibilities

  • Generate reports, validate data, and analyze performance for sourcing deals related to 2027 initiatives
  • Support the team in preparing periodic reconciliations and variance analysis
  • Preparation of period end journal entries & accruals to support the period end close process as needed
  • Responsible for timely and accurate preparation of AR Billing
  • Create SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) of new processes and update existing SOPs
  • Collaborate with team members to identify and implement process efficiencies and improvements

Winter2027 Work Term

Term Length: 4 months

Term Start: January 6, 2027

Term End: April 16, 2027

The pay range for the co-op student role will reflect factors such as the candidate's experience, academic level, and the specific skillset required for the role.

Loblaw has adopted the following hybrid working model (a combination of working between the office and remotely). Colleagues can work remotely up to 1 day a week, while spending the other 4 days in the office (to be determined by each business unit).

GENERAL SUMMARY

This role will support various Finance functions for Sourcing

ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Generate reports, validate data, and analyze performance for sourcing deals related to 2027 initiatives
  • Support the team in preparing periodic reconciliations and variance analysis
  • Preparation of period end journal entries & accruals to support the period end close process as needed

Relationship Building
  • Act as a business partner, providing support to our relevant business contacts
  • Gain the confidence of the business by providing accurate and timely financial information, delivery with a sense of urgency and coping with business changes effectively and efficiently.
Communication Internal/External
  • Keep appropriate individuals informed and up to date (team members/senior management) on status of financial information and projects
  • Work closely with business contacts to understand urgency of financial tasks assigned and elevate any issues in a timely manner
Any Other Duties As Required
  • Any other responsibilities or projects, as required.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
  • Current enrollment in a relevant post-secondary program, focused on Accounting, Finance or related disciplines.
Skills Required

  • Strong technical skills (accounting practices/standards, Advanced Excel, BI, SAAS, etc.)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage resources, timelines and projects
  • Proactive individual, able to effectively manage various projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with people at various levels of an organization
