Job summary

The City Of Edmonton is hiring a Strategic Planning Analyst I to join the Office of the City Clerk’s Council Protocol and External Relations team. You will research complex information, prepare briefs and executive materials, and coordinate city events and international relations initiatives.

You will also support committee administration and manage relationships with the mayor, Council offices, and external partners.

Qualifications

  • University degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in strategic and operational business planning, corporate performance measures, and budgets.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management and event management.
  • Assets: Project Management training/certification.
  • Training or experience in facilitation, research methodologies, evaluation practices, information management, strategic foresight, or conflict resolution.

Responsibilities

  • Research, synthesize, and analyze complex information to produce briefs, reports, presentations, and executive materials.
  • Provide strategic coordination and support for city events, international relations, and meetings with external partners.
  • Guide project management initiatives and support committee administration, including the UNESCO Learning City Steering Committee.
  • Establish, foster, and manage positive working relationships with internal teams, including the mayor and Council offices.
  • Monitor and analyze trends impacting city priorities, focusing on relationship-building.
  • Organize administrative processes, including budget management, gifting inventory, and external relations databases.
  • Support high-profile initiatives such as international delegations and Edmonton Learning City network building.

Working alongside Senior Advisors, you will synthesize complex information, support high-priority sponsorship and international relation efforts, and coordinate strategic projects from concept to execution.
