Job summary

The School District No. 5 Southeast Kootenay is seeking an Alternative Education Teacher & Contract Teacher Teaching on Call for Grades 7-12 at Elkford Secondary School in Elkford, BC.

This 1.0 FTE, full-time temporary role starts September 8, 2026, or upon completion of the posting process, running to June 25, 2027, on site at Elkford Secondary School.

Applicants should have BC Teacher Certification or equivalent and demonstrate experience or training in Secondary and Alternate Education.

Qualifications

• Must have BC Teacher Certification or equivalent.
• Must have a degree or formal training for Secondary level.
• Experience in Alternative Education is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach and support students in grades 7–12 within Alternative Education.
• Deliver engaging lessons and assessments aligned with the curriculum.
• Collaborate with staff to support student success and well-being.

Salary Range: The starting annual salary for this teaching position ranges from $70,392 to $119,187, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.

Terms and conditions pursuant to the Collective Agreement between the Cranbrook and Fernie Teachers' Association and School District No. 5 (Southeast Kootenay).
