Job summary

School District No. 5 (Southeast Kootenay) is seeking a Grade 1/2 Teacher/Elementary Co-Teacher for a 0.20 FTE temporary position in Cranbrook, BC.

The assignment runs from October 7, 2026 to June 25, 2027 with on-site work only and a split role across Grade 1/2 and elementary co-teaching. The successful applicant must hold BC Teacher Certification and a degree or formal training in Primary education, with classroom experience in the K-6 range.

Qualifications

• Must have BC Teacher Certification.
• Must have degree/formal training and/or teaching experience at the Primary level.
• Must have teaching experience in Grades K-6 or in subjects aligned to this posting.

Responsibilities

• Teach Grade 1/2 as part of a Grade K-6 program.
• Serve as Elementary Co-Teacher to support collaborative instruction.
• Work on-site; schedule includes Wednesdays and a 0.20 FTE temporary contract from Oct 7, 2026 to Jun 25, 2027.

Contract Type: Part-time Temporary (0.20 FTE)

Salary Range: The starting annual salary for this teaching position ranges from $14,078 to $23,722, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.

Terms and conditions pursuant to the Collective Agreement between the Cranbrook and Fernie Teachers' Association and School District No. 5 (Southeast Kootenay).

• Preference will be given to applicants with BC Teacher Certification.

• Must have a degree/formal training and or teaching experience at the Primary level.

Job Summary

Grade 1/2 Teacher/Elementary Co-Teacher, Grades K-6

0.20 FTE temporary contract, starting October 7, 2026 or upon completion of the posting process to June 25, 2027. (0.10 FTE of this position is as a Grade 1/2 Teacher and 0.10 FTE of this position is as an Elementary Co-Teacher).

Must have a degree/formal training and or teaching experience at the Primary level.

This position is scheduled for Wednesdays. Please note that all work will be on site.

Please note: Continuing teachers will need to vacate their continuing assignment in order to accept a temporary assignment, unless the FTE is greater in the temporary job posting.
