First Nations Jobs Online is seeking a Full-Time Health Care Aide / Caregiver for a ventilator-dependent ALS patient in Southwest Edmonton, AB. The role involves providing intimate personal care and medical support in a private residence.

Responsibilities include managing non-invasive ventilation, G-tube feeding, suctioning, transfers with a ceiling lift, medications, light housekeeping, and reporting changes to family and health professionals.

Qualifications

  • Health Care Aide certificate and registration in good standing with the CLPNA.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience with ventilator-dependent care or complex medical needs (non-invasive ventilation, oral suctioning, G-tube feeding, ceiling lift transfers).
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Recent vulnerable sector check.
  • Ability to work full schedule including evenings, weekends and weekend split shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care and health support to an adult male living with ALS who is ventilator-dependent.
  • Manage non-invasive ventilation, including mask fitting, alarms and equipment care.
  • Perform oral suctioning for secretion management.
  • Administer G-tube feeding and related care.
  • Assist transfers using a ceiling lift and perform repositioning.
  • Administer medications as directed and perform light housekeeping related to care.
  • Monitor client’s condition and report changes to family/health professionals.
  • Accompany client to appointments as needed.
