Job summary

Matrix is seeking reliable Airfield Ramp Attendants to support ground operations at remote project sites. You will handle loading/unloading cargo on the aircraft apron, operate forklifts and ramp equipment, and help ensure safe, efficient aircraft movements.

The role requires working outdoors in varying weather, a strong safety mindset, and the ability to work 12-hour days, 6 days a week at remote locations near Yellowknife. Must be local to Yellowknife and physically capable.

Qualifications

• Previous ramp, aviation, cargo-handling experience is a strong asset.
• Forklift Certification is required.
• Valid Class 5 driver's license and clean driving abstract.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical work.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload aircraft baggage, cargo, freight, supplies and equipment.

Matrix is currently seeking reliable and safety-focused Airfield Ramp Attendants to join our team. This is a hands-on role supporting airfield ground operations at remote project sites.

In this key role, you will work on the aircraft apron and be responsible for safely loading and unloading aircraft cargo, baggage, freight, supplies and equipment. You will also operate forklifts, loaders and other ground-support equipment to help ensure aircraft arrivals and departures are handled safely and efficiently.

Previous ramp, aviation, cargo-handling, warehouse, equipment-operator or remote-site experience is considered a strong asset. The ideal candidate is dependable, physically capable, safety-minded and comfortable working around active aircraft and mobile equipment in changing weather conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Load and unload aircraft baggage, cargo, freight, supplies and equipment safely and efficiently
• Operate forklifts, loaders and other ramp/ground-support equipment as required
• Move, stage, organize and secure cargo on the apron in accordance with site and operational procedures
• Assist with aircraft arrivals and departures by maintaining a clear, organized and safe ramp area
• Follow airfield and site safety procedures and communicate effectively with flight crews and site personnel
• Support inventory control, shipping, and receiving tracking

Requirements

• Previous experience operating forklifts, loaders or similar mobile equipment. Forklift Certification required.
• Valid driver's license and clean drivers abstract. Class 5 required and experience hauling a trailer required.
• Ability to safely operate vehicles/equipment in an active airfield environment
• RED PASS IS NOT REQUIRED
• Ability to safely lift and move up to 50 lbs and perform physical work throughout the shift
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and in a remote/camp environment
• Strong safety awareness, reliability and ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Must be local to Yellowknife
• Must be flexible to work 12-hour days, 6 days a week. Some early mornings, late nights, or weekend work may be necessary. Shift work coverage required.

Assets (Nice to Have)

• Previous ramp, aviation, cargo-handling, warehouse or logistics experience
• Administration experience and proficiency with basic computer programs.
• Experience working at remote sites, mines or rotational camp operations
