Job summary

MATRIX is seeking an experienced Yard & Expediting Coordinator in Yellowknife to organize the yard and shop, manage asset inventory, and support expediting tasks. You will operate yard equipment, coordinate freight, and ensure safety and readiness of company assets.

The role reports to the Northern Operations Manager and requires teamwork, initiative, and reliability to adapt to changing priorities and support efficient operations in a high-demand environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the organization, cleanliness, safety, and readiness of the yard, shop, and storage areas.
• Track and organize inventory of assets and supplies.
• Assist with asset inspection, tagging, maintenance, and repair coordination.
• Load/unload trucks and trailers safely with proper handling and securing of materials.
• Operate yard equipment (telehandler, loader, forklift) following safe practices.
• Provide expediting support including errands, pickups, deliveries, and transportation.
• Coordinate with Expeditor and Buyer on freight handling and shipments.
• Communicate daily priorities with Operations and Logistics Manager.
• Monitor yard supplies and address maintenance needs.

Job description

MATRIX is looking for an experienced Yard & Expediting Coordinator who is team-oriented, motivated, safety-minded, and detail-focused. This role will play a key part at our Yellowknife shop by supporting yard organization, asset inventory, freight preparation, expediting services, equipment operation, and the general upkeep and readiness of the yard, shop, and company assets. This position reports to the Northern Operations Manager.

Job Description

• Maintain the organization, cleanliness, safety, and operational readiness of the yard, shop, common areas, equipment, and storage areas.
• Track, maintain, and organize the company’s inventory of assets, equipment, supplies, and materials stored internally and externally.
• Assist with the inspection, proofing, tagging, maintenance, and repair coordination of assets as they come into or leave the shop.
• Load and unload trucks and trailers safely and efficiently, ensuring proper handling, placement, and securement of materials and equipment.
• Operate company equipment as required, including telehandler, loader, forklift, and other yard equipment, following safe work practices.
• Support expediting duties, including company errands, pickups, deliveries, supply runs, airport and hotel transportation, and other operational support as required.
• Operate company vehicles for expediting services and transportation of employees, supplies, tools, equipment, and materials as needed.
• Coordinate with the Expeditor and Buyer on freight handling, shipment preparation, pickups, deliveries, and movement of materials.
• Communicate with the Operations and Logistics Manager to confirm daily priorities, yard requirements, shipment needs, and operational support tasks.
• Monitor yard supplies, identify maintenance or repair needs, and communicate issues requiring follow-up.
• Perform other related yard, expediting, equipment, and operational support duties as assigned.
• Preparing Loads for air freight, loading and manifesting cargo and passenger flights.

Preferred Licensing & Certifications

• Previous experience working in a yard, warehouse, logistics, expediting, or equipment support environment would be an asset
