About the Opportunity

We are hiring Airport Security Officers to join our growing security team at the airport in Goffs, Nova Scotia.

As an Airport Security Officer, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of passengers, staff, and airport operations. You will be responsible for performing access control, screening, surveillance, and incident response, while providing excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment.

• On-site at airport
• Shift-based schedule: 06:00–18:00 and 18:00–06:00
• Includes weekends, overnights, and holidays as required

Key Responsibilities:

As an Access Control Officer, you will be working as the main security detail for Halifax Stanfield International Airport. Your duties include monitoring security lines and access points to ensure only authorized individuals access restricted areas, conducting regular patrols, safety checks, and responding to emergencies as part of your role.

Other duties include:

• Monitoring terminal areas and perimeter for safety concerns and suspicious behaviors 24/7.
• Ensuring adherence to Transport Canada regulations by tenants and guests.
• Performing routine safety checks across airport facilities.
• Responding to emergency situations and acting as incident commander until relieved by first responders.
• Managing emergencies as directed by the Security Operations Centre (SOC).

Qualifications:

• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Problem-solving and decision-making abilities, especially under pressure.
• Discretion handling confidential information.
• Ability to pass a security clearance and hold a RAIC.
• Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
• Flexible availability, including weekends and overnight shifts (schedule: 06:00–18:00 / 18:00–06:00).
• Must be at least 19 years old with a high school diploma.
• Reliable transportation to the airport.
• Valid driver’s license with at least 3 years of driving experience.
• Valid First Aid & CPR/AED certificate (online certificates are not accepted).

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

• Previous airport or aviation security experience.
• Experience in law enforcement, military, or private security.
• Experience in high-traffic public environments.
• Additional language skills (e.g., French).
• Familiarity with aviation safety regulations.
• Strong teamwork and leadership qualities.
