Airport Operations Communication Centre Specialist - Billy Bishop Airport

AOCC (Airport Operations Communication Centre)

A.S.P. is looking for an Airport Operations Communication Centre Agent to ensure seamless communication and coordination at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport. As the first point of contact for internal departments, airlines, and airport service providers, you will be key in maintaining operational efficiency and delivering excellent service to passengers. The ideal candidate will work with integrity, respect, and responsibility for airport security and safety.

Responsibilities include :

• Monitoring and operating access control, CCTV, and intrusion systems;
• Responding to routine and emergency calls and alarms;
• Gathering critical information to initiate appropriate responses, prioritizing as needed;
• Controlling PSL doors via automated access control systems;
• Activating emergency assistance and coordinating with relevant agencies;
• Monitoring status, providing situational updates, and tracking on-duty units using telecommunications systems;
• Analyzing situations to anticipate escalation or de-escalation;
• Supporting problem resolution and handling complaints;
• Providing information to employees and the public about the airport;
• Signing out visitor passes;
• Recording all information in Ports Toronto’s Records Management System;
• Collaborating closely with supervisors and airport management;
• Managing multiple phone lines and radios, including the Airport Emergency line, through Ports Toronto’s communication system;
• Performing related duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

• High School diploma or Grade 12 education;
• At least two years of security-related experience;
• Education in Emergency Communications, Dispatch, Aviation Operations, or Security is an asset;
• Eligibility to work in Canada;
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Restricted Access Identification Card (RAIC);
• Knowledge of access control, alarm, phone, computer, and CCTV systems;
• Understanding of airport physical site and systems, stakeholders, tenants, and service providers;
• Familiarity with relevant plans, maps, and SOPs;
• Minimum of 300 hours training in AOCC;
• Knowledge of security policies, Acts, and legislation such as the Criminal Code, PSISA, Trespass to Property Act, Fire Code, AODA, and WHMIS;
• Valid security license, G or higher driver’s license with a clean abstract, First Aid & CPR certification, and willingness to undergo criminal record check;
• Excellent communication and active listening skills;
• Strong multi-tasking abilities and ability to work under pressure;
• Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
