Job summary

Newrest In Canada is seeking dedicated food preparation staff for our Calgary unit. You will learn and execute menu details, apply knife skills, and maintain safe, clean work areas on a fast-paced line.

Candidates must be able to read, write, and speak English, with prior restaurant or catering experience and knowledge of HACCP as an asset. Flexibility to stand for long periods, work weekends, and adapt to changing priorities is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in a restaurant or catering business is required.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Knowledge of HACCP is an asset; training may be provided.
• Ability to stand for long periods and work on weekends.

Responsibilities

• Understand the menu and ensure accurate food preparation.
• Master knife skills and maintain safe work surfaces.
• Prepare food including marinating, seasoning, chopping and slicing vegetables.
• Control portions and monitor food levels on the line.
• Follow recipes and procedures consistently.
• Prepare food throughout the day as guidelines specify.
• Use prep sheets and station checklists accurately.
• Adhere to high standards of food prep, cleaning and sanitation.
• Be on your feet while clocked in; take breaks as scheduled.
• Complete cold food prep accurately, neatly and timely.
• Anticipate and respond to other departments’ requests.
• Develop positive working relationships with unit staff.
• Work as part of a team and assist others as needed.
• Adapt to changing priorities with urgency and accuracy.
• Follow instructions for recipes and perform other duties as assigned.
