Job summary

WestJet seeks a qualified Aircraft Maintenance Engineer to perform safe, reliable maintenance on our fleet, including Boeing 787, 737 NG, 737 MAX and Q400. The role requires a TC AME license, 2+ years’ experience on relevant aircraft, and eligibility to work in Canada.

You will work in a fast-paced technical operations environment with a strong safety culture and opportunities for career advancement. This on-site role offers premium benefits and a 5,5,4 shift rotation.

Qualifications

  • Valid Transport Canada Aircraft Maintenance Engineering License required (M2 preferred).
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience and/or endorsed on Boeing 737 and/or 787 and/or Q400, or equivalent type of aircraft.
  • Proven technical aptitude with strong airframe, powerplant, and flight control experience.
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada (passport or PR/open work permit).
  • Must be able to obtain Radio Licence within 6 months of employment.
  • The physical ability to lift 62lbs and work in varied environments.
  • Flexibility to work night shifts, weekends and holidays, including overtime.

Responsibilities

Are you ready for your next adventure? Ensure you meet the following requirements:

  • Valid Transport Canada Aircraft Maintenance Engineering License required (M2 preferred)
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience and/or endorsed on Boeing 737and/or 787 and/or Q400, or equivalent type of aircraftis preferred
  • Proven technical aptitude with strong airframe, powerplant, and flight control experience required
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada(must hold a Canadian Passport or Permanent Residency and/or open work permit with PR card in process)
  • Must be able to obtain Radio Licence within 6 months of employment
  • The physical ability to lift 62lbs and be able to sit, kneel and stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work in a variety of environmental conditions including temperature extremes, confined spaces, working at heights and in a noisy workspace
  • Ability to maintain a positive fit test to wear all safety and protective equipment including (but not limited) to a respirator apparatus
  • Flexibility to work shift work (night shifts, weekends and holidays) including overtime when necessary
  • Must be able to travel for situations where base coverage and/or rescue tripsare required
  • Strong computer knowledge and skills using various Maintenance programs and Microsoft Office Applications

Successful candidates will be required to meet the following conditions of employment:

  • Obtain and maintain a Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC) issued by Transport Canada
  • Obtain and maintain Airside Vehicle Operators Permits (AVOP). Must have a valid Driver’s Licence and a clean driver’s abstract
  • Pre-employment assessment to measure physical ability and fit for positionincluding audiometric testing
  • Clear police backgroundand criminal record check
  • Offers of employment are conditional on passing a pre-employment alcohol and drug screening testincluding Alcohol, Psychoactive Substances, Illicit Drugs and Cannabis
