Job summary

Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) is offering a Data & AI Intern position within the Group Risk Management – Balance Sheet and Liquidity Risk team in Ontario. You will design and deploy AI models, work with data engineers on robust data infrastructure, and align AI initiatives with business goals.

The role requires hands-on AI/ML development, Python proficiency, and strong communication. A 4-month winter placement runs January to April 2027 with a mix of virtual, hybrid, and in-office work arrangements.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled at a Canadian post-secondary institution focusing on data science, computer science, mathematics, statistics, or machine learning.
• Proficient in Python programming.
• Hands-on experience with AI/ML development.
• Familiar with AI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code).
• Creative and analytical thinker, self-driven in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy AI models to solve business problems.
• Collaborate with data engineers to ensure scalable AI solutions.
• Work with stakeholders, data scientists, and software engineers to align AI initiatives with goals.
• Utilize latest tools to design data and AI solutions meeting business needs.
• Explore new tools and techniques to improve processes.
• Contribute to team and RBC development community.
