Job summary

The Lake Lenore Co-op is seeking an Agronomist to provide agronomy support and crop input sales to Ag Customers in the Lake Lenore area. You will work closely with the Agro team and be flexible between locations as required.

JOB SUMMARY: A degree in Agriculture or Agribusiness is required, with 2–3 years in agronomy or crop input sales and a valid Class 5 license. You will conduct farm visits, soil analyses, and develop crop plans to help customers optimize farm profitability.

Qualifications

  • A degree or diploma in Agriculture or Agribusiness.
  • Professional Agrologist or Certified Crop Advisor designation is an asset.
  • 2–3 years in agriculture, agronomy, or crop input sales.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license.
  • Understanding of farm business operations and current ag tech.

Responsibilities

  • Be an active team member of all operations in the crop input department, delivering service to members and customers.
  • Conduct regular farm visits with customers to understand farming practices.
  • Scout fields during the growing season and report findings to customers.
  • Soil sampling and analysis reporting.
  • Develop crop plans and recommend crop inputs tailored to each farm.
  • Participate in supplier meetings, in the office and in the field.
  • Initiate farm trials with customers and source products from suppliers.
  • Work with the crop input team to achieve sales targets.
  • Create presentations and tech sheets for grower meetings.
  • Support staff and collaborate with the Agro team.
  • Manage continuing professional development hours as required.

Reporting to the Crop Input Team Manager, the Agronomist will be responsible for providing agronomy support and crop input sales to Ag Customers of Lake Lenore Coop. The successful candidate will work closely with our Agro team and will be flexible between locations when required. Other functions for the position will be as follows:

Responsibilities
  • Be an active team member of all operations in the crop input department, ensuring efficient and effective service for all members and customers.
  • Conduct regular farm visits with customers to understand their individual farming practices.
  • Scout fields throughout the growing season and report back to customers timely and effectively.
  • Soil sample and provide analysis of results.
  • Develop crop plans and thoughtfully create suggestions for crop inputs that match a customers farm.
  • Participate in meetings with supplier representatives, in the office and in the field.
  • Initiate farm trials with customers and source products from suppliers.
  • Work with the crop input team to achieve sales targets.
  • Develop presentations and tech sheets as needed for grower meetings.
  • Provide support to all staff and work directly with the entire Agro team.
  • Manage continuing professional development hours as required.
Skills and Experience
  • A degree or diploma in Agriculture or Agribusiness.
  • Professional Agrologist or Certified Crop Advisor designation or being enrolled into the program is an asset.
  • Minimum experience of 2-3 years in an agriculture related field, focused on agronomy or crop input sales.
  • A valid Class 5 Drivers license.
  • Understanding of farm business operations.
  • Up to date knowledge of industry technology.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
