The Agriculture Program Specialist (2-year term) is a key member of the Agriculture team. They bring project management, communication skills, budget management/tracking and operations experience to meet the strategic priorities of the team, strategy and program.

Flexible within Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba

This is a two-year term position

What We Can Achieve Together:

The Agriculture Program Specialist (2-year term) is a key member of the Agriculture team. They bring project management, communication skills, budget management/tracking and operations experience to meet the strategic priorities of the team, strategy and program. Under the direction of the Agriculture Strategy Director, they will be responsible for creating, implementing and administering systems that ensure the effective coordination of cross-functional teams to achieve Agriculture program goals and objectives. This includes the following priority responsibilities: identifying critical work streams and tracking actions and performance indicators; coordinating Agriculture Program virtual and in-person meetings and events including scheduling, developing agendas, facilitating, tracking and following up on critical decisions and action items; coordinating execution of new Agriculture Program contracts and grants, including submitting new agreement requests, support for drafting agreements as well as scopes of work and related due diligence documents as needed/requested, and managing the review and approval process and communication with contractors and grantees; drafting programmatic updates; tracking program budget, including monitoring spending on contracts and grants; and managing a digital filing system.

The Agriculture Program Specialist will communicate with staff in various programs across the organization and will keep up to date on best practices and standard operating procedures to improve team functions.

We’re looking for someone with a strong background in supporting a diverse, multi-disciplinary team, strong coordination skills, the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and excellent communications skills to support our geographically dispersed team. What You’ll Bring:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2 years related experience or equivalent combination
  • Project management experience including exposure to and experience working with budgets and reporting
  • Experience designing, analyzing and implementing business processes
  • Experience synthesizing information and generating reports
  • Experience with business writing, editing and proofreading
  • Experience organizing time and managing diverse activities to meet deadlines
  • Experience working across teams and communicating with a wide range of people

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working in agriculture and awareness of agricultural production systems
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects involving multiple teams and stakeholders to successful completion, including risk tracking
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities and knowledge of Indigenous history in Canada

Salary Information:

The estimated starting salary for this position is dependent on experience, qualifications and location.

  • Salary range in Canada is: $75,000 – $80,000 CAD annually
