Job description
Agricultural and Packaging Production Manager
  • Full-time

Jealous Fruits is the northernmost large scale cherry producer in North America. We grow premium cherries along the shores of Okanagan Lake in the renowned Okanagan Valley of British Columbia, Canada. Our cherries are all hand packed in our state-of-the-art facility, located right on our farm, and shipped to our customers worldwide.

Under the direction of the Fulfilment & Operations Manager or designate the Agricultural and Packaging Production Manager will ensure seamless operation of Fulfillment of Orders and Packaging Inventory. This role will have different aspects that are critical in and out of harvest.

Duties and responsibilities

PRE-HARVEST

  • Assist fulfillment manager is correct set up of database matching over Unitec/Famous and offline software’s/set-ups
  • Work alongside Compliance manager to ensure packaging procurement fits within legal/moral obligations for the environment/food safety
  • Maintenance and development of Jealous Fruits GTIN database
  • Point contact for suppliers to arrange packaging logistics/timing/quantities.
  • Training in new Unitec order management software and re-cap training on packing manager Unitec software
  • Update all training manuals/SOP’s
  • Ensure all departments within the Fulfillment managers staffing structure are adequately trained, documented, and onboarded correctly in co-ordination with HR and Fulfillment manager
  • Point contact for all staff needing urgent assistance with any area of management under the Fulfillment/procurement umbrella

HARVEST

  • Assist in overseeing all fulfillment daily order management operations including but not limited to overseeing fulfillment staff/process and working closely with inventory/shipping and packing staff.
  • Ensure orders are shipped in a timely manner
  • Assist in FIFO of fresh produce inventory
  • Daily relief of materials used in ERP
  • Ongoing assessment of tonnage projections
  • Ensure Unitec pack management software is correctly reflective of the packing instructions
  • Assist in all order and sales order entry management
  • Daily counts of packaging & associated supplies – assist in re-orders when required
  • Trained back up as Unitec line manager should operators be sick/absent (Coral’s previous job)
  • Oversee all Fulfillment manager task in the afternoon/evening
  • Evening fresh produce reconciliation and inventory checks to ensure correct packing and allocation of product for shipping
  • Assist in ensuring timesheets are up to date and entered for all fulfillment/box making staff
  • Assist fulfillment & sales manager in correctly forecasting sales based on tonnage projections
  • Assist in assessing upcoming quality vs sales orders whilst cross referencing against pack instructions

POST HARVEST

  • inventory counts and ERP adjustments
  • Must be highly organized with an exceptional eye for detail.
  • Experience with Traceability and fulfilment of orders (including grading, packaging, inventory, and setup experience)
  • Able to work for extended periods of time in a focused, safe and professional manner.
  • Must be a flexible team player who works well in a busy and demanding environment.
  • Good working knowledge of specialized Unitech machines (for packing of fruit), ERP and technical/quality reporting.

Working conditions

Our working environment is extremely challenging over a short period of time. Applicants should be aware that this is a farming environment and days off may be limited during our growing and packing season.

• Work hours are not calendar based, but are dependent on crop maturity and weather

  • Approximately 60+ hours per week June to September.
  • Approximately 40+ hours per week February to May
  • Approximately 40+ hours per week September

· The candidate must have the ability to work well with people of varying backgrounds and nationalities.

Successful applicants must provide acceptable evidence of being fully immunized against COVID-19 (two doses of Health Canada approved COVID-19 vaccine, plus 14 days after your second vaccination) before a start date can be set.
