Job summary

MHICA, a Tier 1 aerospace manufacturer based in Mississauga, is seeking a Commodity Manager to oversee parts acquisition across multiple projects from concept to production handover.

The role requires 5+ years in purchasing/sourcing within manufacturing, strong negotiation and ERP experience (SAP/Syspro), and a track record of delivering cost reductions. A degree in Finance, Sales, or Engineering is preferred, with aerospace exposure as an asset.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience in purchasing/sourcing within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience delivering cost reduction plans.
• Experience liaising with customers or suppliers.
• Aerospace industry exposure is desirable.
• Degree in Finance, Sales, Engineering, or related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Managing the parts acquisition process for multiple projects from concept design to handover of a stable supply chain for production.
• Coordinate the supply chain activity across several projects as relevant at any given time.
• Negotiate economical and cost-effective solutions and manage the recurring cost budget during qualification and development stages.
• Lead the execution of suppliers' contractual obligations during development for Build to Spec and Build to Print parts.
• Work with Planners and Tactical Buyers to provide accurate forecasts of new developments.
• Interface with Planners, Tactical Buyers, and subcontract suppliers on delivery schedule, cost, and contract inquiries.
• Ensure supplier adherence to contractual terms and conditions.
• Assist Suppliers on Rate Readiness for development and legacy programs.
• Facilitate cost reduction activities related to the program and suppliers.
• Coordinate industrialization commitments on parts purchased, controlling costs and deadlines.
• Report weekly on new development activities and cost reduction achievements.
• Manage design changes with suppliers to minimize costs and obsolescence.
• Develop strategic supply chain approaches to support multiple projects in NPI and R&T areas.
• Identify opportunities for consolidated spending for overall business benefit.
• Proactively identify and resolve supply chain issues to meet business needs.
• Launch RFQ packages and negotiate prices, terms, and delivery dates.
