Job summary

MHI Canada Aerospace, Inc. is seeking a Commodity Manager in Mississauga to lead parts acquisition for multiple aerospace projects and optimize the supply chain from design to production handover.

The role reports to the Director-Strategic Sourcing and focuses on cost effective supplier engagement and contract execution. You will coordinate cross‑functional teams, drive cost reduction initiatives, and manage development phase contracts with suppliers while ensuring on‑time delivery and quality

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience in purchasing/sourcing within a manufacturing environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Sales, Engineering, or related discipline required; Master’s preferred.
• Experience identifying and delivering cost reduction plans to benefit the business.
• Strong interpersonal, negotiation and cross‑functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage parts acquisition for multiple projects from concept design to production handover.
• Coordinate supply chain activity across several projects as needed.
• Lead supplier negotiations to achieve economical, cost‑effective solutions.
• Oversee contractual obligations with suppliers during development phases.
• Provide accurate forecasts of new developments with Planners and Buyers.
• Interface with planners, buyers, and subcontractors on delivery, cost and inquiries.
• Ensure supplier adherence to contractual terms and manage cost budgets.

Reporting to the Director-Strategic Sourcing, the Commodity Manager is a key member of the Supply Chain team.

Monday to Friday 7:30am - 4pm

Responsibilities

• Managing the parts acquisition process for multiple projects that are underway from concept design to the handover of a stable supply chain for production.
• Coordinate the supply chain activity across several projects as is relevant at any given time.
• Negotiate the most economical and cost-effective solution for the purposes of theprogrammesthey are supporting. The candidate will have responsibility for managing the recurring cost budget throughout the qualification and development stages of the package they are working on.
• Lead the execution of the contractual obligations of the suppliers during the development phase for Build to Spec and Build to Print parts.
• Work with Planners and Tactical Buyers to provideaccurateforecastsofnew developments.
• Interface with Planners, Tactical Buyers, and subcontract suppliers on delivery schedule, cost, and contract inquiries.
• Ensure supplier adherence to operational related contractual terms and conditions.
• Assist Supplier on Rate Readiness for development and legacy programs.
• Facilitate andmonitorcost reduction activitiesdirectly relatedto the program and suppliers.
• Coordinate the industrialization commitment on the partspurchased, respecting costs and deadlines, and aim to implement targetedobjectivesas soon as possible. Rely on the purchasing function and on all the functions necessary for processing needs.
• Report weekly on new development activities with the SupplyChain andCost reduction achievement.
• Manage design changes at development stages with suppliers to ensure any costs and obsolescence issues are minimized.
• Develop a strategic approach to supply chain activities in support of thenumerousprojects within the NPI and R&T area of the business.Identifyopportunities forconsolidatedspending activities for the overall benefit of the business.
• Proactivelyidentifyand resolve supply chain issues to meetbusinessneeds.
• Launch of RFQ packages and negotiate prices, terms and conditions, and delivery dates to meet project requirements.

Physical Working Demands and Working Conditions

Must be physically fit, energetic, agile,willingand able to:

• Work in restricted spaces (tanks)
• Work at heights above 3 meters
• Work rotating shifts when and asrequired
• Bend, twist, walk on uneven surfaces and climb stairs repeatedly during shift
• Perform heavy lifting (< 40lbs) as needed to perform the job
• Stand for 7 hours of an 8-hour shift

• Understanding and appreciation of Engineering principles with at least a basic ability to read technical drawings.
• Experience in estimating roles will be considered an asset.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with individuals across a range of functions and varying seniority.

• Must have problem solving skills and the ability to implement actionas a consequence offindings andidentifyingroot causes.
• Must have commercial awareness. Ability to understand,challenge,and implement contract conditions.
• Must have a good understanding of ERP systems (ideally SAP / Syspro) and Office 365.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Must be flexible and have the ability to manage multiple tasks to achieve a common goal.
• Ability to influence individuals outside of the function to achieve an overall business goal.
• Must be hard working, honest, conscientious, polite, and co-operative.
• Candidate must be goal driven & focused.
• Quick to learn new tasks and take on new responsibilities.
• Fluency in any of the following languages will be considered an asset: French, Japanese, Spanish.
• Current work authorization for Canada isrequiredfor all openings.

Experience

• 5+ years’ experience in purchasing/sourcing within a manufacturing environment. Background in engineering will be an asset.
• Experience inidentifyingand delivering cost reduction plans tobenefitthe business.
• Experience liaising with customers or suppliers.
• Experience in the aerospace industry isdesirableand awareness of low volume sourcing is preferred.
• Experience having influenced design to achieve cost reduction or improve manufacturability of components.

Education

• Degreein Finance, Sales, Engineering, or related discipline isrequired.Master’sdegree is preferred.
