Job summary

The City of Surrey's Recreation Division is seeking an Advanced Aquatic Instructor to lead certification and recertification courses, create engaging learning environments, and promote water safety and leadership among youth and adults.

You will instruct courses such as Swim Instructor and National Lifeguard, work evenings/weekends, and support participants pursuing instructor and lifeguard credentials across City facilities; completion of a Police Information Check is required.

Qualifications

• Strong leadership, instructional, and organizational skills.
• Ability to teach youth and adult learners in a variety of settings.
• Availability to work evenings and weekends.
• Ability to work at various City of Surrey facilities.
• Current certification in Standard or Intermediate First Aid with CPR-C & AED, Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor Trainer, or Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard Instructor.
• Preference for candidates with experience delivering Aquatic Leadership or certification-based programs.
• Experience teaching or mentoring youth and adult learners.
• Demonstrated customer service experience in recreation or aquatic environments.

SCOPE

The City of Surrey's Recreation Division is committed to building healthy communities where people of all ages can be active and engaged for life. We are seeking knowledgeable and enthusiastic aquatic professionals to deliver Aquatic Leadership programs that support the development of future instructors and lifeguards. As an Advanced Aquatic Instructor, you will lead certification and recertification courses while creating a positive and engaging learning environment that promotes water safety, leadership, and skill development.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As an Advanced Aquatic Instructor, you will:

• Experience delivering Aquatic Leadership or certification-based programs,
• Experience teaching or mentoring youth and adult learners.
• Demonstrated customer service experience in recreation or aquatic environments.

OTHER INFORMATION

• Hourly Rate: $37.00 + 8.2% in lieu of benefits and vacation
• This position requires completion of a Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check
