Job summary

Primary Care Alberta is seeking a Medical Office Assistant (MOA) at the Kaye Edmonton Clinic to support patient flow and clinical processes. The MOA will prepare patients for visits, check them in, escort them to exam rooms, and collect relevant information for visits with accuracy in the EMR.

Responsibilities include recording vitals, assisting physicians during procedures, coordinating appointments and tests, and handling administrative tasks to keep care on schedule.

Qualifications

  • MOA program completion required.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in a family practice or primary care clinic.
  • Experience using Connect Care EMR.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, support patient flow, and maintain accuracy in a busy clinic environment.
  • Strong, professional communication skills, both verbal and written, and proficiency in English.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for visits including check-in and escort to exam rooms.
  • Gather information for visits and document vitals in EMR.
  • Assist clinicians during patient care and office procedures.
  • Manage task lists, coordinate appointments and tests, and follow up on patient care.

Medical Office Assistant Position OverviewThe Medical Office Assistant/Admin IV position plays a key role in supporting the daily flow ofpatients through the clinic. This role combines patient-facing clinical support with administrativeresponsibilities, helping physicians and care teams deliver timely, coordinated, and compassionatecare.The MOA supports clinical flow by preparing patients for their visits, including check-in and escortingthem to exam rooms, gathering relevant information for their visit, and ensuring they are ready to beseen by the physician. The MOA collects and documents vital signs (such as blood pressure, height,and weight) in the Electronic Medical Record with accuracy.The MOA works closely with physicians by assisting as needed during patient care and officeprocedures, responding to clinical needs efficiently, and helping appointments stay on schedule.Exam rooms are prepared, stocked, and maintained according to clinic standards and InfectionPrevention and Control guidelines, supporting safe and efficient care throughout the day.In addition to clinical support, the MOA contributes to administrative and care coordination tasks,including managing task lists, coordination of appointments and tests, tracking follow-ups, andhelping close the loop on patient care. Answering phones and booking appointments may also beshared responsibilities, depending on clinic needs.Aligned with the Administrative Support IV classification, this role requires strong organization,critical thinking, and the ability to support clinical processes with flexibility. The MOA workscollaboratively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team and contributes to a respectful,patient-centered environment consistent with the Vision, Mission, and Values of Primary CareAlberta.
