Qualifications

  • MS Outlook, Word and Excel proficiency.
  • Medical Terminology required, proficiency test.
  • Typing speed/proficiency tests.
  • Knowledge of privacy and disclosure laws.
  • Able to work independently and in a team with good communication.
  • Attention to detail and professionalism under pressure.
  • Must be able to work all shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Interview patients/public and provide accurate registration services.
  • Process admission and registration for inpatients and outpatients.
  • Verify patient identification and collect financial responsibilities.
  • Provide reception, operate switchboard, direct calls, and assist with wayfinding.
  • Monitor code phones and assist with deposits, reconciliations and trust accounts as applicable.

Job description

Reporting to the Supervisor, Registration Switchboard and Patient Information (RSPI), the Administrative Support III performs a variety of administrative duties related to interviewing patients/public and providing accurate and timely registration services for the hospital. Main duties include processing admission and registration of inpatients and outpatients, verify and validating patient identification, collection of financial responsibilities and orientation to staff and students. Responsibilities will also include reception services, operating the switchboard, directing calls, wayfinding, monitoring code phones as required in the site, financial functions for hospital billing, and supplies, daily reconciliations, deposits, patient safekeeping, & where applicable assisting residents with trust accounts.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Knowledge and operation of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel. Medical Terminology required, proficiency test.Keyboarding skills required, proficiency test. Knowledge of legislation regarding access, privacy and disclosure of patient information required. Confident to work independently and in a team environment with excellent communication skills. Skilled at paying close attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to maintain a professional image, manage stressful situations with empathy and to remain calm, courteous, sensitive and tactful at all times. Preferred Qualifications:

Completion of MOA course or equivalent, previous experience working in a Medical Office setting, switchboard experience, Connect Care Patient Access experience, Netcare and Person Directory.
