Job Responsibilities:
The Program

Taproot Community Support Services (formerly WJS Canada) aims to improve community lives through various programs. It provides direct services to children and youth with complex needs, trauma, mental health issues, and diverse abilities, within a trauma-informed care framework. As one of Canada's few private, national social service agencies, it operates over 125 services across BC, Alberta, and Ontario under more than 90 government contracts. With over 600 staff, it serves approximately 1,300 individuals daily, offering tailored programs including education, training, life skills, recreation, and family involvement.

Your Role
  • Follow standards guided by Taproot policies and provincial regulations.
  • Complete month-end duties such as invoices, staff summaries, and reports.
  • Ensure timely submission of invoices, bills, and expense claims.
  • Interact professionally with clients, families, staff, and community partners.
  • Support regional and program operations, acting as liaison within the organization.
  • Use computer software to prepare and edit documents, reports, and agendas.
  • Schedule meetings, events, and manage travel arrangements.
  • Assist in preparing reports, analyzing data, and forecasting as needed.
  • Maintain files, databases, and records, performing routine data analysis.
  • Order supplies and services as required.
  • Lead and train junior staff or practicum students.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties, including possible driving responsibilities.
The Position

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Surrey, BC, requiring 40 hours/week (Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM). It involves performing administrative support duties within a CARF/CET accredited agency, assisting visitors, managing reports, and maintaining a courteous environment.

Pre-Employment Requirements

Applicants must provide a valid Criminal Record Check and Ministry Check (dated within 6 months) before employment confirmation, which may take up to 6 weeks.

Candidate Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED with specialized admin training.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience.
Additional Skills and Competencies
  • Proficiency with Office 365, SharePoint, Zoom, Teams.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and understand instructions clearly.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Experience with data management, report generation, and record keeping.
  • Ability to transcribe meeting minutes and coordinate activities.
